Valve Springs and Retainers

Engine mounted with hydraulic valve lifters often can not handle many revolutions. Here we would recommend examining how many revolutions others drive with on your particular engine type. We recommend switching to mechanical valve lifters as soon as there is a risk that hydraulic valve lifters may not be included.

When fitting tight springs, make sure that the timing belt/chain can handle the extra load. You may need to consider changing timing belts a little more often.

Lighter retainers allow the engine to take several revolutions as it does not take much to move the whole system.
