Driving suits
A racing suit is not just “clothing for the track”. It is your most important personal safety equipment in the cabin. At Qualitec, you will therefore find a selection of racing suits for motorsport, with focus on FIA approval, comfort in the driving position and materials built to provide real protection against heat and flames. The range includes RRS racing suits (FIA 8856-2018) as well as Sparco models (FIA 8856-2000), so you can choose the solution that matches your discipline, budget and requirement level.
What should you look for when choosing a racing suit?
The most important thing is that the suit fits correctly and covers the whole body. A suit that is tight in the wrong places quickly becomes irritating in the seat and can in practice tempt you to drive with the zipper in the wrong position. A suit that is too large can be annoying around the shoulders/arms – especially with HANS, harness routing and a high hand position on the steering wheel.
In addition, you should choose based on:
The FIA standard required by your series/class (FIA 8856-2018 or FIA 8856-2000)
Comfort and freedom of movement in the driving position (shoulders, lower back, arms)
Materials and construction (for example multiple layers, breathability and weight)
RRS and Sparco – practical choice in two directions
RRS racing suits are popular because they combine a strong price level with FIA-approved constructions.
Sparco is a classic choice for many drivers and is often chosen by those who want a well-known brand with solid fit and proven motorsport history.

Frequently asked questions about racing suits (click here to open)
Which FIA approval should I choose?
It depends on your class/series. Some require FIA 8856-2018, while others accept FIA 8856-2000. Always check the regulations for your discipline before ordering.
What does “FIA 8856-2018” mean in practice?
It means that the racing suit is homologated according to an FIA standard with defined test requirements. For you as a driver, it is about a documented safety level and is typically a requirement in many series.
Why is fit so important in a racing suit?
Because you need to be able to move your arms/shoulders freely, sit comfortably in the harness and still keep the suit correctly closed. A good fit also means fewer folds that can interfere under the harness, collar and HANS.
How do I measure myself correctly?
Measure at least height and weight, and preferably also chest, waist, hips, leg length and arm length. If you are between sizes, the fit of the upper body (shoulders/chest) is often the most important area to get right.
Should a racing suit fit tightly or loosely?
It should fit “close enough” not to flap around, but not so tight that you lose freedom of movement in the shoulders and lower back – especially when seated in the driving position with the harness tightened.
Can I use the same racing suit for rally, circuit racing and trackdays?
Often yes, but this is decided by the organiser/series. Trackdays may be more flexible, while rally/circuit racing in series typically has specific FIA requirements.
Do you offer embroidery on my RRS racing suit?
Yes. RRS can embroider driver name, flag, team name and selected logos, but there is also the option to choose a model with full design freedom. As a rule, embroidery is normally only applied to the outer fabric layer.
What does “in stock” vs. “special order item” mean?
“In stock” typically means faster delivery. “Special order item” means that it is ordered from the supplier after your order, and delivery time may vary.
Which size should I choose if I am between two sizes?
As a starting point, choose the size that fits best around the shoulders and upper body. Suits that are too large can interfere with the harness, while suits that are too small restrict movement and can feel “locked” in the driving position.
Can you help me choose the right suit?
Yes. Tell us which series/class you drive in and whether you use HANS, and we will help you match the correct FIA requirement and fit.
