Inlet & intake pipes
Inlet and intake pipes are used in performance cars, motorsport, and custom builds where the airflow path to the turbo or intake system is to be optimized compared to standard. Although the terms are often used somewhat broadly, each of them has its own typical function in a turbo or intake setup.
An inlet pipe is normally fitted on the section leading to the turbo’s intake side and is intended to carry the air from the air filter or intake and to the turbo with as few restrictions as possible.
An intake pipe is typically used as a term for an intake pipe in the system before the turbo or as part of the intake solution itself, depending on the car and manufacturer. What they have in common is that they are used to improve airflow, reduce restrictions, and create a more efficient and well-finished solution in the engine bay.
Inlet and intake pipes are often chosen for projects where improved response, an upgraded intake side, and components suitable for tuning and higher loads than standard are desired. They are used both as replacements for factory parts and as part of more custom-tailored setups where the focus is on better flow, more durable materials, and a more performance-oriented build.
