Aluminium heat shields
Aluminium heat shields are used to protect against heat from exhaust systems, turbochargers, downpipes, manifolds and other heat-generating components in the engine bay, underbody or custom-built projects. They are relevant for standard cars, modified street cars and motorsport vehicles, where high temperatures can affect nearby components, wiring, hoses, reservoirs, body parts and overall reliability.
An aluminium heat shield can help reduce heat exposure in sensitive areas around the engine and exhaust system. This is especially beneficial in vehicles with limited space, turbo conversions, engine swaps or other custom solutions where heat quickly becomes a challenge. By managing heat more effectively, components can be protected from unnecessary stress while creating a more controlled engine bay setup.
Aluminium is a popular material for heat shields because it combines low weight with good formability and effective heat reflection. This makes it suitable for both universal solutions and custom applications where the shield needs to be bent, cut or fitted according to available space. In many builds, aluminium heat shields are used around the turbo, manifold, exhaust, catalytic converter, downpipe, wastegate piping and other areas where radiant heat can cause issues.
