VUSS exhaust cutouts
VUSS exhaust cutouts are used to control the sound in an exhaust system, allowing the car to switch between a more subdued sound and a more open, sporty sound. It is a popular solution for custom-built exhausts, performance cars and vehicles where more control over the exhaust sound is desired, without necessarily running a fully open system all the time.
A VUSS valve is typically installed in the exhaust system as an active valve that can open or close part of the exhaust flow. When the valve is closed, the sound can be dampened through the normal silencer setup. When the valve opens, the exhaust gets a more direct and noticeable sound, depending on the car, pipe routing, placement and the rest of the exhaust system.
VUSS valves are especially relevant for cars used for both normal driving and more sporty driving, where flexibility is desired. This can include cars for tuning, trackday, car meets, weekend driving or custom-made exhausts where the customer wants the option to adjust the sound level depending on the situation.
When choosing VUSS cutouts, it is important to check pipe diameter, placement, control type, power connection and whether the valve fits the car’s exhaust setup. Correct installation is important for sealing, function, durability and sound result.
Please note that rules for exhaust noise and the use of exhaust valves may vary depending on the car, application and country. The car must still be able to comply with applicable requirements for noise, inspection and legal road use.
