MaxxECU GEN2 RACE
MaxxECU GEN2 RACE is an advanced standalone engine management system for projects where the demands for functions, sensor coverage, data logging, and connectivity are above the classic RACE model. It is an ECU developed for serious performance and motorsport projects where high flexibility, many input options, and a more modern hardware platform are required. MaxxECU itself states that GEN2 RACE is suitable for engines from 1 to 12 cylinders and up to 12 cylinders fully sequentially, which places it as a significantly more comprehensive solution than the older RACE.
One of the major strengths of MaxxECU GEN2 RACE is that it combines high capacity with modern communication and better integration options. The official specification mentions, among other things, 8 pulse inputs for VR or Hall signals, 24 analogue inputs with selectable pull-ups, 8 built-in EGT TYPE-K inputs, dual wideband lambda support for LSU 5.2, 4.9, and 4.2, as well as dual knock sensor input. At the same time, GEN2 RACE has a built-in MAP sensor for up to 4.5 bar / 65 psi boost pressure, which is higher than the classic RACE model in MaxxECU’s own comparison.
GEN2 RACE also stands out by being built on a newer platform with IP68 water protection, dual USB-C, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. MaxxECU itself highlights that the unit has two USB-C ports, one of which is a high-speed 480 Mbit/s connection to PC, while the other is used for tablet communication and charging. The comparison page also shows 16 GB of internal memory and the possibility of logging far more channels than the other models, which makes it particularly interesting for projects where analysis, troubleshooting, and detailed data logging are a real part of the work.
MaxxECU GEN2 RACE is therefore a strong choice for those who want a modern and uncompromising engine management system for more demanding custom builds, motorsport, track day use, and advanced turbo projects. It is well suited to builds where there is a need for many sensors, high logging capacity, dual lambda, advanced trigger support, and better connectivity than on the smaller MaxxECU units. MaxxECU sells it both as a connector kit and as flying lead install kits with LSU 5.2 solutions, which also shows that it is intended for more extensive installations.
