Oil pumps

Oil pumps are an important part of the engine’s lubrication system and are responsible for ensuring that the engine oil circulates correctly to the engine’s vital components. An oil pump builds the necessary oil pressure so that bearings, crankshaft, camshafts, pistons and other highly loaded engine parts receive the lubrication they need during both normal driving and heavy load. Without correct oil pressure and a stable oil supply, even an otherwise strong engine can quickly suffer damage.

In standard engines, performance engines and motorsport engines alike, the oil pump plays a crucial role in reliability and durability. Under high load, high RPM or more demanding use, greater demands are placed on the oil supply, and many therefore choose to upgrade to a better or more powerful oil pump as part of the engine build. This can be relevant for engine rebuilds, tuning, track driving, drifting, drag racing or other projects where the engine operates under conditions beyond standard use.

An oil pump is not only used as a replacement for a worn or defective original pump, but also as an important upgrade in engines where better control over lubrication is desired. In some setups, upgraded oil pumps are chosen to ensure a more stable oil supply at high RPM, while others choose them as part of a complete performance setup with a focus on durability and safety. This is especially relevant in engine projects with increased power, changed internal engine geometry or other modifications that place greater demands on the lubrication system.

When choosing an oil pump, it is important to consider the engine’s intended use, compatibility, oil pressure, oil capacity and the overall engine setup. The right oil pump must match both the engine platform and the purpose so that you get a solution that works correctly in practice. In many cases, the oil pump is one of the most important components in a serious engine project, because good lubrication is absolutely crucial for both performance and service life.
