Helmets & HANS
Helmets, neck supports and HANS (Hands And Neck Support) are an important part of safety equipment in motorsport, trackday and race cars. A good helmet protects the driver’s head in an accident, while the HANS system helps reduce strain on the neck and head during hard braking, frontal impacts or heavy impacts.
In motorsport, it is important to choose equipment that fits correctly and matches the type of driving the car is used for. Helmets are available in different types and approvals, depending on whether they are used for circuit racing, rally, karting, trackday or other motorsport. For competition use, FIA or Snell approval may be required, depending on the regulations.
HANS is used together with a helmet and harnesses. The system helps limit the forward movement of the head in a collision, reducing strain on the neck and upper back. This makes HANS especially relevant in race cars with multi-point harnesses and fixed seats, but it requires the helmet to be prepared for HANS.
