Swirl flap delete kits
Swirl flap delete kits are used to remove or block the original swirl flaps in the intake manifold on engines where this system is part of the original intake setup. Swirl flaps are small valves in the intake system that are used to create more turbulence in the air at low RPM and part load in order to improve mixture formation and reduce emissions, especially on many diesel engines.
This type of kit is often chosen for projects where the goal is to remove a known weak point in the intake system. On some engines, swirl flaps can over time become covered with soot and deposits, seize up, or suffer wear in the mechanism, which is why some choose to replace them with a fixed solution instead of keeping the original design.
A swirl flap delete kit typically consists of plugs, blanking components, or other parts that make it possible to close the manifold correctly after removal of the swirl flap system. They are used especially on certain diesel engines and custom builds where the intake is adapted to the desired setup. At the same time, it is important to choose the correct solution for the specific engine, as design, diameter, and manifold type vary from model to model.
