Brake maintenance is an important part of both safety, reliability and the service life of the car’s braking system. When brakes are serviced correctly, brake pads, brake discs, calipers and slider pins work more consistently, and the risk of uneven wear, noise, seized parts and poor braking performance is reduced. During service and installation, it is therefore important to use the right products for cleaning and lubrication.

Brake cleaner is used to clean brake components of brake dust, oil, grease, dirt and residue from previous installation. This makes it suitable when replacing brake pads, brake discs, calipers and other parts of the braking system where clean surfaces are important for correct function. Brake cleaner evaporates quickly and normally leaves no residue, which makes it practical for cleaning brake discs, calipers, brackets and other metal parts around the brake. It is a simple but important part of the job, because dirt and contamination can affect both braking performance and wear.

Copper grease is typically used in the areas where you want to reduce the risk of seizure, corrosion build-up and annoying noise between metal parts. This can, for example, be on contact surfaces, on the back of the brake pads where relevant, or on other contact points outside the actual friction surface. It is important that copper grease is used correctly and only in the right places, as it must not come into contact with the brake pad friction material or the braking surface of the brake disc. The purpose is to make installation and removal easier and to help keep the brake components functional over time.

When maintaining brakes, it is not only about replacing worn parts, but also about doing the job correctly. Cleaning with brake cleaner and the correct use of installation grease such as copper grease can make a clear difference to durability, function and the finished result. This applies both to normal service on road cars and to more demanding use in performance, trackday and motorsport applications.
