Original Holset HX55 turbocharger for Volvo FH12, FL12 and FM12 with Volvo D12A and D12C diesel engines of approximately 12 litres. This is a large and robust Holset truck turbo, which is also used in several industrial and marine applications based on the Volvo D12 platform.

HX55 is known for high durability, large flow capacity and good suitability for high boost pressure. The turbo is therefore popular for motorsport, diesel performance, drift, drag racing, tractor pulling, trackday and custom turbo builds where a strong single turbo with high power potential is needed.

This version has a 65/90 millimetre compressor wheel, 78/85 millimetre turbine wheel, A/R 2.5 turbine housing, oil-cooled centre section and 360° bearing. This makes it suitable for larger engine setups where high airflow and strong durability under heavy load are required.

The turbo is often seen on projects with Toyota 2JZ, BMW M50/M52/M54, BMW diesel, Mercedes OM606, Volvo redblock and Cummins diesel engines. Depending on engine, boost pressure, fuel, manifold, turbine housing and complete setup, the Holset HX55 can typically support approximately 700–900+ horsepower.

This turbo was originally used on heavy Volvo trucks and can also be found on industrial engines, generator sets, workboats and marine diesel engines. Marine and industrial versions may, however, vary in turbine housing, compressor housing, flange, cooling and rotation.
