Boost gauges
Boost gauges are used to monitor the turbo’s boost pressure and are an important part of many turbo cars, performance cars, motorsport cars and custom builds where better insight into how the turbo setup works under load is wanted. When the boost pressure can be read correctly, it becomes easier to follow whether the system is building the desired pressure and whether the engine and turbo are working as expected while driving.
In many projects, a boost gauge is an important aid because it gives the driver direct information about boost level at idle, part load and full load. This makes boost gauges relevant for normal monitoring, troubleshooting and tuning, especially on cars where changes to the turbo, wastegate, boost controller or intake system have a major effect on how the car performs.
A boost gauge is often used as a supplement to other gauges such as oil pressure, oil temperature and air/fuel ratio gauge, so the driver gets a better overall overview of the engine’s condition. This can be a major advantage on both road cars and more demanding setups where precise reading of boost pressure is important for both performance and reliability.
