Brush Research GBD Flex-Hone tool for honing, deburring and surface finishing of cylinder bores and other internal metal surfaces. Suitable for engine blocks, cylinder liners, hydraulic cylinders, brake cylinders and other precision parts where a uniform and correct surface structure is required.
This GBD Flex-Hone model is designed for 5.000"/127 millimetre bores and uses 240 grit silicon carbide, which provides an extra fine surface finish. The Flex-Hone tool helps remove sharp edges, irregularities and minor surface imperfections without unnecessarily changing the geometry of the cylinder.
The flexible nylon filaments with silicon carbide abrasive globules make the tool self-centring and self-aligning in the cylinder bore. The construction provides consistent contact against the cylinder walls and helps create a correct cross-hatch pattern, which is important for oil film, ring sealing and bedding-in of new piston rings.
Flex-Hone is often used for engine rebuilding and preparation of cylinder bores before installing new pistons or piston rings, but it is also suitable for deburring, plateau finishing and finishing work in many types of internal bores within automotive and industry.
The tool can be used with a drill, drill press or CNC machine. When used, honing oil or cutting oil is recommended for correct finish and tool life.
