Cooling system

The cooling system is a crucial part of the engine’s operation and is responsible for keeping the temperature stable during both normal driving and under load. Without a properly functioning cooling system, the engine risks overheating, which can lead to reduced performance, increased wear, or in the worst case, serious engine damage.

A cooling system typically consists of several key components such as the radiator, water pump, thermostat, hoses, expansion tank and coolant. Together, they ensure that heat is carried away from the engine and released through the radiator. Performance and motorsport cars often place greater demands on cooling, as the engine operates under higher loads and generates more heat than standard.

A correctly sized cooling system is important for both reliability and performance. Excessive temperature can negatively affect engine oil, gaskets and components, while too low a temperature can result in poor combustion and inefficient engine operation. That is why a good cooling system is not only about maximum cooling, but about keeping the engine within its optimal temperature range.
