Flanges
Flanges for turbo are used in many different parts of a turbo setup where a correct and stable connection between components is needed. This can be at the turbo inlet and outlet, on the manifold, downpipe, wastegate, blow off valve, screamer pipe or other custom-made parts where the flange helps ensure that the parts fit together mechanically and can be mounted correctly in the system. In street cars, motorsport and custom builds alike, flanges are often a fixed part of the setup, especially when working with conversions, adaptations or fabrication of custom pipes and turbo parts.
Turbo flanges are often used in connection with welding work and the fabrication of manifolds, downpipes or charge pipes where a strong and precise connection is required. Material choice and machining also matter, especially on setups with high temperatures and heavy load, where a flat and properly made flange helps provide a more stable connection. This applies both to smaller turbo upgrades and to more demanding projects with higher power targets.
When choosing a flange for turbo, it is important to look at more than just the shape. The flange must match the specific component, bolt pattern, port shape, diameter, thickness and the way the system is built. Some turbo flanges are made for specific turbo models or turbine housings, while others are used for wastegates, blow off valves or as a transition between different parts in a custom-built setup. That is why it is important to choose the right solution so that fitment and installation are correct from the start.
