Lambda sensors

Lambda sensors are used to measure the oxygen content in the exhaust gas and are an important part of engine management, tuning, and monitoring of the air/fuel mixture. The signal from a lambda sensor is used to assess whether the engine is running too rich or too lean, and it therefore has a major impact on performance, reliability, and correct engine calibration. This makes lambda sensors relevant for everything from normal road cars to track day use, motorsport, and custom builds, where accurate data about the mixture is important.

The choice of the right lambda sensor depends, among other things, on which controller or ECU the sensor will work with, whether it is a narrowband or wideband sensor, and how accurately the signal needs to be used in practice. In some projects, it is about replacing a worn or defective lambda probe, while in others it is about building a more advanced setup for tuning and engine management. That is why lambda sensors are an important part of troubleshooting, upgrades, and new builds when the engine needs to be monitored and adjusted precisely.
