Competition intercooler kit for VW Golf 7 GTI / R

This intercooler is an effective upgrade for VAG 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TSI engines, where the original intercooler can become a limitation, especially on tuned cars or under heavy load. With a large core measuring 640 x 410 x 65 mm, a total volume of 17 litres, and a tube and fin construction, you get a significantly greater cooling capacity than standard, helping to keep intake air temperatures down and provide more stable performance.

A larger intercooler is especially relevant on vehicles with ECU tuning, higher boost pressure, or repeated hard driving, where the original solution often becomes heat-soaked and loses efficiency. This gives better conditions for stable power delivery and more consistent engine performance.

The intercooler is made from aluminium and is supplied as a kit with silicone hoses, hose clamps, and mounting hardware. The connections are Ø70 mm, and the kit is designed for vehicles where a significantly improved solution is wanted compared to the standard intercooler.

It is important to check the vehicle model, engine variant, and model year before ordering. On some models the kit fits directly, while others require additional modification during installation.

Note regarding installation on other models:
On models without direct fitment, installation requires modification. This may include modification of the bolt-on crossmember, removal of reinforcing ribs, drilling of new mounting holes, adjustment of brackets for the AC cooler, as well as minor changes to air guides and plastic parts. The extent depends on the vehicle model. On some models this involves minor adjustments, while others require more extensive modification to create enough space for the intercooler.
