Oil cooler cores
Oil cooler cores are used in systems where there is a need to keep oil temperature more stable under load. They are relevant in many types of setups where oil is exposed to high heat and where the standard solution is not always sufficient. This can be on cars with increased power, during hard road use, track day, motorsport, towing or other projects where engine oil, gear oil or automatic transmission fluid operates under more demanding conditions.
An oil cooler core is the cooling unit itself, through which the oil passes to release heat. Unlike a complete kit, a separate oil cooler core gives greater freedom to assemble the rest of the system yourself with the hoses, fittings, adapters and brackets that suit the project. This makes oil cooler cores ideal for custom builds where space, the desired cooling capacity and the choice of connections need to be matched more precisely.
When the oil temperature becomes too high, it can affect the oil’s lubricating ability and its ability to protect the internal parts of the engine or gearbox. A more stable oil temperature can therefore be important for reliability, durability and more consistent operation under load. This is especially relevant in cars that are driven hard, where the engine or gearbox has been upgraded, or where heat development is higher than normal.
