Simons 014-H2R is a stainless catback sports exhaust developed for Mazda MX-5/Miata NA 1.6-16V and 1.8i-16V from 1989-1996. The system is mounted after the catalytic converter and backwards as a complete model-specific system with focus on better flow, sporty sound and a more classic sports car look than the original exhaust.
The MX-5 NA is light, low and mechanical in its driving experience, and that is exactly why the exhaust sound means a lot for the character of the car. The Simons system gives the small roadster a more lively and clear sound, without the car losing its simple and easy-to-drive nature. During calm driving, the engine gets a deeper and fuller tone, while the sound under acceleration becomes crisper, more open and more mechanical. The dual tailpipes also give the car a more distinctive rear end, which suits the classic NA shape well.
The stainless system has a 63.5 millimetre pipe diameter, which gives better flow and lower back pressure than many original systems. This can give the engine a freer character and a more direct feel when accelerating. The duplex solution with 100 millimetre + 100 millimetre tailpipes gives a more symmetrical and aggressive appearance than a single outlet.
The system is made from stainless steel for better durability and resistance to rust and daily use all year round. Please note that the spoiler/rear bumper must be modified on the left side of the car to make room for the left tailpipe. The system fits up to chassis number JMZ...308212 and cars with a catalytic converter with flange-to-flange length of 370 millimetres or 440 millimetres.
