Simons 014-H1R is a stainless steel catback sports exhaust developed for Mazda MX-5/Miata NA 1.6i-16V and 1.8i-16V from 1996-1998. The system is fitted after the catalytic converter and rearwards as a model-specific solution with focus on better flow, sporty sound and a more distinctive appearance than the original exhaust.
The MX-5 NA is a light and direct roadster where engine sound and exhaust note quickly become a major part of the driving experience. The Simons system gives the car a more lively and classic sports car sound without changing its simple character. During calm driving, the sound is deeper and fuller than standard, while under acceleration it gets a crisper and more mechanical tone that suits the 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine and the lightweight rear-wheel drive platform well.
