Throttle bodies

Throttle bodies are used to control the amount of air entering the engine and are an important part of the intake system on standard road cars, tuned street cars, and motorsport projects. When the throttle body opens and closes, it regulates the air supply to the engine, which is why it has a major effect on throttle response, drivability, and the overall function of the setup.

In tuning and motorsport applications, throttle bodies are often chosen as part of upgrades where better flow, faster response, or a solution that matches changes in the intake system, engine management, or engine configuration is desired. They are used on both naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines and can be relevant for everything from replacing the original throttle body to more custom-built solutions with larger intake setups or individual adaptations.

A good throttle body must fit the engine and intake setup correctly while also working reliably with the vehicle’s control system and sensors. That is why factors such as diameter, connection type, signal type, and compatibility are important when choosing a throttle body for a project.
