Steering wheel hubs
Steering wheel hubs are an essential part when fitting a sports steering wheel or motorsport steering wheel in a car. They work as the connection between the car’s steering column and the new steering wheel, ensuring correct installation, fitment and position.
A steering wheel hub is typically model-specific and designed to fit the steering column and splines of the individual car. This makes it possible to fit an aftermarket steering wheel with a standard bolt pattern, used by many manufacturers within motorsport and performance. Without the correct steering wheel hub, the steering wheel cannot be fitted correctly or safely.
Steering wheel hubs are often used in motorsport, trackday, drift and performance builds where a different steering wheel than the original is desired. They can provide a better driving position, more direct steering and better feel with the car.
In many setups, the steering wheel hub is combined with quick release, which makes it possible to quickly remove and refit the steering wheel. This is especially practical in cars with roll cages, bucket seats or limited space, where entry and exit can otherwise be difficult.
