Steering wheels

Steering wheels are a central part of the driver’s contact with the car and have a major impact on steering, control and driving feel. A good steering wheel can make a noticeable difference in motorsport, trackday and performance driving, where precision and feedback from the car are crucial.

A motorsport steering wheel is typically chosen based on diameter, depth/dish and design. Smaller steering wheels provide faster steering response, while deeper steering wheels move the wheel closer to the driver and improve the driving position. Many steering wheels are designed with focus on ergonomics and precision, so the driver gets maximum control – whether for rally, trackday, drift or circuit racing.

Material choice is also important. Suede provides a very direct and firm grip, which is ideal for motorsport, while leather often gives a better balance between comfort and durability for both track and road use.

Steering wheels are typically mounted together with a steering wheel hub and possibly quick release, so they fit the car correctly and can be removed and fitted quickly. Most motorsport steering wheels use a standard bolt pattern and can therefore be combined with different solutions depending on setup and needs.

It is important to be aware that fitting a sports steering wheel in newer cars often means that the airbag and original steering wheel functions are removed. You should therefore always choose a solution that suits the car’s use – whether it is pure motorsport or optimised road use.
