Swagier steering angle kit for BMW E36. The kit is developed for drift and motorsport where increased steering angle, more steering lock and better control of the car at large steering inputs are desired.
The kit is an effective solution for BMW E36, where the standard steering geometry does not provide enough steering angle for drift. By changing the steering geometry, the car’s steering angle is increased, allowing the front wheels to turn more than with standard parts. This gives the driver better ability to keep the car in a controlled slide, correct faster and use more steering lock during aggressive drift driving.
The kit increases the track width by approximately 60 millimetres per side, giving approximately 120 millimetres of total extra width on the front axle. This can help move the wheels further out towards the arch edge and is therefore well suited for cars with wider arches, bodykits or drift builds where both steering angle and front axle width are important.
The control arms are equipped with pressed-in Meyle ball joints and have adjustable steering lock stops. This makes it possible to limit or adapt the maximum steering lock, so the setup can be adjusted according to wheels, tyres, arch clearance and the car’s other suspension setup.
The kit is made from S355 structural steel. The parts are CNC-cut, bent and milled, the adapters are zinc-plated, and the control arms are powder-coated black. This gives a strong and drift-suitable construction for cars used hard on track.
Note:
During installation, the tie rod and tie rod end must be shortened by approximately 15 millimetres per side. The manufacturer recommends approximately 20 minutes of toe-out per side, meaning approximately 40 minutes in total. Eccentric or adjustable control arm bushings are also recommended, as well as camber plates adjusted inwards and towards the firewall, or only inwards.
The mentioned setup values are the manufacturer’s recommendations and should be adapted to the car’s overall setup, wheel choice and use. After installation, the car must always have a correct wheel alignment and adjustment carried out.
