Boost controllers
Boost controllers are used to control and regulate boost pressure on turbo cars where more precise control over the turbo’s operation is desired than with a standard solution. They are used on tuned street cars, track cars and more custom-built turbo projects where stable boost pressure and adjustability are an important part of the setup. A boost controller can be relevant both for mild tuning and for more demanding builds with a changed turbo, wastegate or engine management.
Depending on the setup, both manual and electronic boost controllers are available. Some solutions are used for simple and direct boost pressure adjustment, while others provide more advanced control with the possibility of fine-tuning, multiple boost levels and better control under different loads. The choice depends, among other things, on the vehicle build, turbo system, wastegate type and how much control over boost pressure is desired.
When choosing a boost controller, it is important to look at compatibility with the turbo setup, vacuum and pressure control, solenoid, engine management and how the car is used. A correctly chosen solution can help provide more stable boost control, better use of the setup and a more well-thought-out build for both street use and motorsport.
