Driving shoes
Driving shoes are an important part of the equipment for motorsport, trackday and performance driving, where precise pedal control, comfort and control are very important. They are designed to give the driver better feel through the pedals and more stable contact between foot and pedal during active driving.
Unlike regular shoes, driving shoes are typically made with thinner and more flexible soles, so the driver can more easily feel the accelerator, brake and clutch. The narrow fit makes it easier to work precisely with the pedals, especially in cars with closely positioned pedals or when using techniques such as heel-and-toe downshifting.
Driving shoes are often used in motorsport, rally, karting, trackday and performance cars, where quick and precise pedal response is important. Many models are made from lightweight materials with good support around the foot, giving both comfort and control during longer periods of driving.
For competition use, approvals such as FIA may be required depending on the regulations. For trackday and road use, there are also driving shoes with more focus on comfort, grip and feel rather than homologation.
Whether you drive on track, in a rally car, kart or an optimised road car, driving shoes are a simple upgrade that can improve pedal feel, control and the overall driving experience.
