Electric pumps

Electric water pumps and electric oil pumps are used in cars and motorsport projects where better control of cooling and lubrication is desired compared with traditional mechanical solutions. They are relevant in many types of builds, including engine swaps, tuned street cars, track day cars, race cars, and other projects where stable temperature control and reliable fluid circulation are important for engine operation and durability.

An electric water pump is used to circulate coolant in the engine’s cooling system without being driven directly by the engine belt drive. This provides greater freedom in the build and can be an advantage in projects where a more flexible component layout or better cooling control is desired. Electric water pumps are often used in performance cars, motorsport, and custom-built cars where there is high heat load, limited space, or a need for more efficient and targeted cooling. They can be used as the main pump in some setups or as an auxiliary pump in extra circuits such as intercooler systems, charge air cooling, or other cooling systems.

An electric oil pump is used to move or build oil circulation in systems where a mechanical pump is not sufficient, does not suit the build, or where a separate solution is desired for specific functions. This may be in connection with engine oil, gearbox oil, differential oil, turbo lubrication, pre-oiling, or other special solutions, depending on how the car is built. In motorsport and performance projects, electric oil pumps are often chosen when greater control over oil movement in the system is needed, or where packaging and build layout make an electric solution more practical.
