HEICO-LOCK lock washers

HEICO-LOCK is a wedge-locking system for bolted joints, developed to prevent bolts and nuts from loosening under vibration and dynamic loads. The system works by using wedge effect and preload rather than friction alone, which is what separates HEICO-LOCK from many simpler locking solutions. When the joint is tightened, the outer radial serrations grip into the contact surface, and if the connection is affected by movement or vibration, any movement only takes place between the inner wedge surfaces. This results in increased clamp load and helps keep the joint secure.

HEICO-LOCK lock washers are developed to secure bolted joints effectively, also in applications where vibration and load would otherwise cause bolts to work loose. The system is designed so that the wedge effect in the washers is greater than the thread pitch of the bolt, which means the connection locks mechanically and helps maintain tension in the joint. This makes them especially suitable for applications where, for example, an exhaust manifold, turbo or other vibration-exposed parts must be held securely in place.

The lock washers are made from steel and hardened to 485 +/-25 HV0.3. The outer serrations bite into the contact surface and help prevent rotation, so the joint is retained more securely under load. The surface is treated with Delta Protekt for additional protection.
