Temperature sensors

Temperature sensors are used to measure temperature in the engine, oil, water, air, and other systems where precise data is important for both reliability and engine management. The signal from a temperature sensor can be used directly in the ECU for regulation and protection, but also for display in a gauge or screen, where the driver can monitor the engine’s condition under load. This makes temperature sensors relevant for road cars, tuning, motorsport, and custom builds, where temperature measurement is often an important part of a stable and well-thought-out setup.

The choice of the right temperature sensor depends, among other things, on what needs to be measured, which temperature range the sensor must be able to operate in, and how the signal will be used in the car. In some projects, it is about replacing a defective sensor or getting correct temperature display, while in others it is about building a more advanced setup where the ECU actively uses the temperature signal for cold start, protection strategies, or finer engine management. That is why temperature sensors are relevant for troubleshooting, upgrades, and new builds when temperature data needs to be used accurately and reliably in practice.
